Corks are undoubtedly popping at Medrad Inc., a multi-vendor service organization and maker of contrast injectors and MRI coils.
The Bayer HealthCare subsidiary won a 2010 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, in the manufacturing category, the government said Tuesday. Medrad previously won the award in 2003.
The award, founded in 1987 and named after Malcolm Baldrige, the 26th Secretary of Commerce, is the country's highest presidential honor for business performance.

"This award is unique in that it honors the collective effort of an entire organization that has systematically strived to achieve excellence in all aspects of its work," U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in prepared remarks.
Warrendale, Pa.-based Medrad was among seven groups that won awards in education, small business, health care and manufacturing. Winners include Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Gove, Ill., for health care, and Studer Group in Gulf Breeze, Fla., for small business. The other winner in the manufacturing category was Purina, the St. Louis, Mo.-based pet food company.
In honoring Medrad, the Commerce Department cited its three-tiered strategic planning, revenue growth, customer loyalty, value generated by employees and high operating income per worker. Medrad, which saw $625 million in sales last year, employs around 2,157 people.
The awards are presented by the the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a division of Commerce.
