LONGMONT, Colo. -- Gamma Systems Services, Inc., a leader in independent nuclear medicine services announces the addition of the Digirad® line of cameras to the company's service portfolio. With over 30 years of nuclear medicine field engineering experience, GSSi is highly qualified and well positioned to expand its service operations to include Digirad's quality camera systems.

"With cardiology practices facing continued reimbursement cuts,
radiopharmaceutical shortages, and competition from other imaging modalities, clinical facilities of all sizes are looking for value without compromising quality," said Glenn Smith, president.

Smith told DOTmed News that his company is one of the first independent service companies, to his knowledge, to service Digirad systems.

"Coupled with our field engineering experience, we have been developing core competence on these systems. After parts acquisition and technical training efforts, we are ready." Smith said. He noted that this independent service dynamic mostly impacts large OEMs like GE and Siemens as end users seek alternatives to off-warranty service contracts. "It's happening with Digirad systems too, and extending our service model to this product line is a natural progression," he said.

In general, GSSi typically generates service cost savings to the operator of 20 to 35 percent for service agreements, parts and demand service. Smith anticipates that similar savings will apply to GSSi's repair cost structure on the Digirad equipment.

Smith said, "It's not only about lowering costs. Our mission is a high level of service with 'no surprises' at lower costs, thereby increasing service value for our customers."

"We wanted to be one of the first independent service companies on this modern camera line," he stated, "and we're excited to now service these high-tech gamma cameras. I believe the small footprint, solid state camera platform is the strongest pattern for the future of independent facility SPECT imaging."

GSSi is expanding its reach east of the Mississippi to cover the nation with its new Digirad service offering.

"We are centrally located in the Denver airlines hub to get nearly anywhere in the U.S in a few hours," Smith said. "So, along with our other service partners and local parts supply, we can provide the Digirad service anywhere in the lower 48."
