by Kathy Mahdoubi, Senior Correspondent | January 28, 2010
Watch this DOTmed News HD video exclusive for more information on Merge Healthcare's biggest news, including the company's acquisition of Merge CAD, the development of CADstream version 5 and Merge's exciting new iPhone application.

Back in August of 2009 Merge Healthcare acquired Confirma, a developer of computer-aided detection technology. Since that time the company has been re-branded as Merge CAD. Merge's newest version of CADstream, a unique server platform for MRI studies, was exhibited at RSNA 2009.

Here, Merge CAD president Paul Budak talks about CADStream 5's advanced applications for liver, an industry first. The technology was developed for use in a range of specialties and designed largely based on clinician feedback. Some of its capabilities include 3D registration, lesion identification and segmentation, and a compare function that allows users to see prior imaging studies juxtaposed with fresh images.
