Hitachi unveiled last week its Scenaria View 128 CT with SynergyDrive workflow features at the 2018 RSNA conference in Chicago.

The scanner is designed to accommodate patients of up to 550 pounds and can comprehensively improve imaging workflow – from patient registration to post-processing and image sharing – using its SynergyDrive technology.

“64/128-slice CT continues to be the industry workhorse for the largest portion of CT exams performed," Mark Silverman, director of CT marketing, said in a statement. "The Scenaria View combines all of Hitachi’s experience and expertise in a remarkable new product providing an unmatched combination of Speed, Comfort and Quality."

The device's composition consists of a larger 80cm aperture, lateral shift table with +/- 10 cm shift range, and an 84 kW generator, all of which, in combination with lower dose capabilities, allow for more detailed studies with greater patient safety.

SynergyDrive is also featured in other Hitachi MR offerings, such as its Evolution 6 software on the Echelon Oval, the widest bore MR available, which is now equipped with new clinical and workflow capabilities, including quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and HiMAR for advanced metal artifact reduction.

In addition to the Scenaria View 128, the Japanese healthcare tech giant showcased the Arietta series of ultrasound products, including its premium tier Arietta 850 which supports the first commercial CMUT transducer with a wide bandwidth range of 2-22 MHz.

Other highlights were its Combinational Liver Elastography for simultaneous strain and shearwave elastography to quantify hepatic inflammation and fatty liver changes in addition to liver stiffness; and its SOFIA 3D whole-breast ultrasound system, a supplemental scanner for dense breast mammography patients.

Scenaria View 128 is available in Japan and is expected to soon be available in the U.S.
