Ion Beam Applications S.A. will supply the cyclotron and treatment rooms for Tennessee's first-ever proton therapy center.

Provision Healthcare LLC, which is developing the $70 million center, said it signed a deal with IBA to supply a cyclotron, two gantry rooms, one fixed-beam room and long-term service for the equipment.

The center, to be located on Provision's campus in Knoxville, will start treating patients in early 2014, the companies said.

IBA, headquartered in Belgium, said it has supplied proton systems to 11 working proton therapy centers worldwide, and nine under development.
